What about Charles and Erik are send to slavery to Istanbul, still children. (In Ottoman Empire, the current practice was to pick up Christians, specially from the Balkans, to slavery)

How the jews were a nation protected by the Empire, they didn’t take jewish children, then, Erik pretends to be a Christian to stay with Charles. 

Erik was send to Janissary corps, but Charles was send to serve in the Vizier’s palace. 

Time has passed,they meet each other again, and their friendship turned into something more deep…
